The name of this movement formed in Paris in1948 derived from the first letters of Copenhague, Bruxelles, Amsterdam, the capitals of the three countries of the artists. These artists tried to find again the spontaneity, the virulence and the liberty of the artistic act. In opposition to the geometric abstraction and to the Social Realism, they took from the Surrealism the idea of "psychic automatism" and from the early 20th- Expressionism the arbitrary and incisive use of colours. The last exhibition of this movement took place in Liège in 1951. |
