Art Deco
Design style prevalent during the 1920s and 1930s characterized by sleek geometrical or stylised forms and bright, sometimes garish colours. The name comes from the « Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes » held in Paris in 1925. Art Deco may have owed something to several of the major art movemetns of the early 20th century : Art deco works exhibit aspects of Cubism, Russian Constructivism and Italian Futurism-- with abstraction, distortion, simplification, geometric shapes and highly intense colors.
